somalis2AMRAN, 26 Sept – The pro-government online news website, Akhbar al-Youm Saturday quoted local sources in Amran as saying “military and security units battling Shiite insurgents in Harf Sufian arrested 20 rebels including seven Somali nationals who were fighting alongside the rebels,” adding “one of the arrested Somalis was slightly wounded.”  A military official in Harf Sufian verified reports of Somalis fighting with the rebels saying “initial information about those Somalis indicate they were among a group of foreigners specializing in guerrilla warfare and that they were training the elements of rebellion.”  The seven men were handed over to military intelligence and investigation with them began on Saturday morning and a military source said he expected the Somali nationals to have ties to Jihadi groups in war-torn Somalia, adding “it is likely that Iranian and Eritrean intelligence agencies are backing these men.”
