SANAA, 10 Nov – Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula or AQAP Tuesday warned in an audio statement posted by Islamist websites the Shiites of Iran pose a serious threat to the Sunnis in Yemen and Saudi Arabia. Saudi wanted al-Qaeda leader, Mohammed bin Abdul-Rahman al-Rashid said “Shiite Iran poses an extreme danger to the Sunnis in Yemen and Saudi Arabia than Jews and Christians,” adding “motivated by the greed to occupy Muslim countries, Iran has long been plotting to install a Hezbollah-like group at the joint Yemeni, Saudi border area.” He urged the Sunnis in Yemen and the Kingdom to rise up and fight Iran backed Shiite rebels. Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister warned Saudi Arabia against meddling in Yemen’s internal affairs saying “supporting extremist groups with money and arms and repressing people will have dire consequences,” adding “stability in Yemen helps regional stability and likewise stirring unrest in Yemen affects the whole region.” He criticized ‘oppression’ of the Yemeni people saying “repressing the people in Yemen through military campaigns will have consequences,” adding “Yemen is facing three problems: extremism and terrorism, separatist movements and the current differences between the government and the Shiites.”
